The Polish Darts Organisation was registered in September 1997 by the District Court in Warsaw according to Polish law concerning social and sports associations. The activities of PDO cover the whole of Poland. Current the PDO has over 160 members. The organisation is govern by the committee chosen from among the members. The seat of the committee is in Warsaw. In Spring 1998 PDO organised the first small regional tournaments. The best players met at the final tournament in Augustow, in north-eastern Poland on 20 June 1998. The best players, who were Marcin Smagalski, Ryszard Orecki, Marek Klimczak and Grzegorz Pluta, all of them from Szczecin and Districts, won the right to represent Poland at the World Soft-tip Darts Championships in Spain. The first regular season of Polish Dart Organisation was officially opened on 19 September 1998, at the Champions' Bar, Hotel Marriott, in Warsaw during the first tournament of Polish Dart Cup - 1998/1999 season.
In this tournament 79 players - 16 women and 61 men - took part. Once again the winners were players from Szczecin, Malgorzata Łukasik (3-Cafe - Szczecin) and Marcin Smagalski (Pralnia Szczecin).![]() During the first season of the Polish Dart Organisation (from September '98 to June '99) eight Polish Dart Cup tournaments were organised. 35 women and 196 men played 301 d.o. best of 3 (best of 5 in the finals). The tournaments were held in various locations around Poland: Warsaw, Cracow and Szczecin. The final tournament was 100 metres underground in Wieliczka Salt Mine.![]() The undisputable winners of Polish Dart Cup 1998/99 were
: Joanna Pazderska (Pralnia - Szczecin) and Piotr "Ibence" Lasek (Pico Dart Club - Choszczno).
![]() At the top of the ranking of PDC 1998/99 were players from: MKSD Piwersi and "Na Kotlowem" (Cracow), "Kontrasty" and 3-Cafe (Szczecin) as well as "Nora" and "Champions" (Warsaw). The best twelve players (4 women and 8 men) represented Poland at the next World Soft-tip Darts Championships in Spain.
Although the men didn't obtain noteworthy final placings, then women made a big surprise winning the silver medal in "Cricket Cut Throat". In the 1998/1999 season, under the patronage or co-patronage of PDO 3 regional leagues started:- Cracow & District Darts League (8 teams), - Warsaw & District Darts League (17 teams) and - Szczecin & District Darts League (14 teams). The majority of players in the winning teams (Unisex Piwersi (Cracow); Champions II (Warsaw) and Laski-Kontrasty (Szczecin)) were members of PDO and players regularly taking part and hold top positions in Polish Dart Cup. ![]() In the last season (1999/2000) the format of Polish Dart Cup has been changed. The contestants played 501 d.o. (best of 3 legs, best of 5 legs in finals) instead 301 d.o. There were 6 qualifying tournaments in Szczecin, Warsaw, Cracow, Bialystok, Zakopane, Gdańsk and the final tournament PDC Masters in Warsaw (May 2000). The twelve best players has been qualified to World Darts Championships in Spain.![]() The winners of Polish Dart Cup 1999/2000 were: Małgorzata Wesołowska (Pico Dart Club Choszczno) and Adam Skalski (Dart Club Vegas Warsaw). Adam won 4 from six PDC tournaments !!! This was not a surprise but ....
![]() The most exciting news about Polish players (PZD members :):):) came from Riccione (Italy) at the end of May '2000. Adam Skalski became the ... vice-champion of Europe !!! He also took the 3rd place in doubles with his club-mate, the current Champion of Poland - Paweł Trzaska. Polish team took fantastic 4.th place in the Nations Cup, winning matches against very strong teams from France, Italy, Austria and Germany !!!
The numbers of dart leagues and teams in Poland is continuously growing.
This season (2000 / 2001), because of the biggest ever number of nominated teams, legaues will be divided into groups or A, B and even C grades.
Propably over 300 Teams in more than 20 regional leagues will start the competition in October '2000. There are 8 Polish Dart Cup Tournaments in this season (2000 / 2001). The organisers - Polish Darts Organisation and Polish Darts Federation expect the biggest ever number of contestants.
